| Ancient Egyptian society was considered a monarchy. The entire country was run by the king, or "Pharaoh". He appointed people to help him run his country. He usually appointed the leaders of the churches and temples around the country. These were his "high priests". These people were in charge of the smaller decisions for the country. These priest were scholars and were also in charge of the building design of the pyramids. One of the most famous high priest was Imhotep (the one from "The Mummy"). He served under King Zoser in the beginning of ancient Egypt. He pioneered the construcion of the pyramids. |
